What are Brain lobes & Why are they important?
Some people don’t know how important the brain is. It does a lot for your body! It controls every volatile and non-volatile action of your body. The lobes of your brain determines what you’re best at and related to. Here’s a breakdown of all the various lobes:

What are Brain Lobes?
The brain’s outer layer, the cerebral cortex, is the wrinkled outside of our brain.
The cerebral cortex is separated into two halves which exist on each side of the longitudinal fissure One side (each hemisphere) is divided up into 4 sections: front, back, side, and in between.
While it’s true that each brain lobe carries out the bulk of a certain function, the functions are more diverse than we originally thought. They’re interconnected and work together.
4 Types of Brain Lobes
The Frontal Lobes of Brain
The frontal lobes are the large area in-between our temples at the front of our brain. Long story short, they’re involved with emotion and personality. In addition, there are big parts of it that help to regulate the more animalistic parts of our brain, like aggression and sexual behavior.
The frontal lobes manage skills like Executive Functions. They’re responsible for various processes, such as solving problems & planning. Equally, they help you control your behavior and make decisions responsibly.
The frontal lobes are the boss of your brain. Also, they’re responsible for making sure everything that’s happening functions like a well-oiled machine. How do they do it? With input from every other area of the brain and by orchestrating every activity towards a common goal!
The Temporal Lobes
The temporal lobes are an important part of your brain and help us process sounds. They can also determine what type of sound we’re hearing, such as a phrase or musical note. We rely a lot on our emotions to deal with situations and make decisions. The Hippocampus is also responsible for storing long-term memories; without it, we wouldn’t remember anything.
The Parietal Lobes of Brain
The parietal lobe is located behind the frontal lobe and above the temporal lobe. Their main function is to let us figure out what things feel like – for example, whether an object is smooth or sharp, firm or soft.
The parietal lobes are also responsible for storing what our body is doing about other objects. This is Visuospatial Processing and helps us move without running into things.
The parietal lobes are also important for skills such as maths, spelling, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor movements such as tying shoe laces.
The Occipital Lobes of Brain
The Occipital Lobes are often under-appreciated and are located at the back of your brain. So, they control a major part of our vision and our ability to ‘see’. The information they analyze is Visual Perception.
Takeaway
By understanding what the different lobes of the brain do, now you can understand why it is important to have a healthy brain. Also, the food we eat is like fuel for our brains and plays a big role in how healthy they stay.
Keep your brain active and full of knowledge by constantly learning and being in mentally stimulation. In Addition, several supplements can keep your brain in shape as you get older. Visiting a doctor regularly can give you peace of mind that your brain is healthy and you have no signs of cognitive decline.
